[Completed: 2022-07-11] Handling of nested accounts in the Accounts datatype

On July 11, 2022 we will be changing how nested accounts are represented in Codat's Accounts data model. The data model will present the full hierarchy within the fullyQualifiedCategory and fullyQualifiedName of each account.

Currently, the fullyQualifiedCategory and fullyQualifiedName properties do not include some middle levels of the account hierarchy.

This change is applicable only to accounting platforms allowing multiple layers of nesting within the Chart of Accounts, namely QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and Netsuite.

Notes: This change impacts only mapping of data within the Accounts datatype. The Account categorisation features of Codat are not impacted.

Action required

If you are using any of QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop or Netsuite, check and update any code that parses fullyQualifiedCategory and fullyQualifiedName properties of Accounts, to expect the full hierarchy.

Expected impact if no action is taken

Any code that parses fullyQualifiedCategory and fullyQualifiedName properties of Accounts for QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop or Netsuite will cease to work for nested accounts.
